About the Workshop Facilitator

The session is created and led by Dr Joanne Riordan. Joanne is an independent Educational Psychologist, who specialises in neuro-affirming practice. Joanne works with families, schools, universities and organisations, to ensure neurodivergent young people thrive. Prior to this, Joanne was a teacher, who has educated every age phase from under 1s to well into adulthood, including in specialist provision. As well as Joanne’s professional experience, Joanne draws on her lived experience as a multiply neurodivergent individual and parent to neurodivergent children. Joanne is well respected within the Neurodiversity space, and was nominated in the National Diversity Awards 2022 and 2023 for her contribution to the field of Neurodiversity. Joanne’s Facebook page @DrJoanneRiordan has over 25,000 followers.

Who is this for?

This session is for teaching staff, who want to continue to grow in their ability to support their neurodivergent learners. It is open to those with little understanding of neurodiversity, as well as those with advanced knowledge in this area – all are welcome! We will ensure the learning is relevant to staff teaching across the age range – from those in early years to post-16.
