What a day!!
Lillesleaf 10k

Young and old flocked to Liliesleaf at the weekend for the annual 10k held as a fundraiser for Harris Trust. The skies turned blue after all the overnight rainstorms and more than 100 walkers set off from the Leaf Green in glorious sunshine.

Ninety runners had the blustery wind at their backs to help push them up the heights of the Riddell estate. Runners described the route as being less brutal than in previous years. However, there was a still a sting in the tail with the last kilometer being run over barley stubbles and a final uphill sprint finish to the Leaf Green a gruelling end for tired legs.

First runner home was Milan Misak in 42m11s ahead of Iain Stewart and James Buckley. Youngster Archie Dalgleish of Gala put in a terrific run of 45m51sec to win first prize in under 16s. Jessica McLaren, for the 3rd consecutive year, was first girl under 16. First lady home Carol Moss was also winner of the over 50s! Many thanks to the Riddell Estate and other local landowners, the village hall ladies and all marshalls who helped to make this a happy event.

Over £2500 was raised for the work of the Harris Trust.
